Could hypnotherapy stop you smoking?

If you're a smoker and you're worried about the health implications and sick of standing in the doorstep smoker huddle, No Smoking Day on Wednesday March 11 could be the ideal time to think about quitting.

Smoking experts say that planning a strategy is the key to success and that the two-month time frame is the ideal time to quit in time for the smoke ban. But what if you really cannot face the rigmarole or commit to a time intensive quit strategy?

Well maybe hypnotherapy could work for you. As one of the UK's leading Master Clinical Hypnotherapists, I have helped numerous smokers quit through a single hypnotherapy session which has lasting effects - helping people regain control of their lives and rebuild their confidence.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is similar to daydreaming or meditation, in essence an altered state of awareness thereby creating a relaxed subconscious state of mind. In this relaxed state, the subconscious is open to receiving helpful and beneficial suggestions thus enabling an individual reach their desired goal. Whilst in hypnosis the client remains in full control, so much so that if they'd want to stop that can.  If a therapist gave a hypnotic suggestion that was against the client's core beliefs, principles and/or ethics, that suggestion would be discarded by the subconscious and the client would not and could not act on it.  Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state - daydreaming is a form of self hypnosis.  Have you ever gone somewhere and when you get to your destination you can't remember how you got there?  Yes that too is a form of self hypnosis.  Also you can never get ‘stuck' in a hypnotic state, as the next step to hypnosis would be a natural sleep and you'd wake up naturally.

Does it work?

Hypnotherapy to stop smoking is now widely recognized as one of the most effective methods available today to successfully stop. Did you know that research provided by American Health Magazine has shown recovery through psycho-analysis is 38% recovery after 600 sessions, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is 72% recovery after 22 sessions and Hypnotherapy is 93% recovery after 6 sessions?
