Best detox products
What really helps you detox? By Karen Evennett
With the vast array of detox products available what exactly does your body need for a spring-clean? Here are eight of the best body detoxers.
Super fruits
Natures Plus Whole- Body Açai Cleanse (£9.95 for 56 capsules from revital.co.uk) is the Rolls Royce of supplements, containing 115 wholefoods, including açai berries, blueberries, goji and mangosteen to improve digestion, weight loss and detoxification.
Clean greens
The chlorophyll in the wheatgrass, barley grass, spirulina, broccoli, super-seed sprouts, sea greens and digestive herbs in Pukka Clean Greens (£15.95 for 90 capsules from pukkaherbs.com) helps reduce premature ageing and promote cleansing.
Milk thistle
Milk thistle supports the liver, and helps with the metabolism of alcohol so its a great remedy to take during and after the party season. We like Healthspan licensed Milk Thistle (£12.95 for 30 capsules from healthspan.co.uk).
Healing herbs
Higher Nature Herbal Springclean (£18.40 for 180 capsules from health-food stores) contains traditional detoxing kitchen herbs such as dandelion, parsley, garlic and chicory all of which have a cleansing effect.
Greens
A diet rich in chlorophyll (from veg and herbs) helps clear substances from the bowel, blood and liver. For a quick fix, try Pukka's Clean Greens Capsules, £15.75 for 90 from pukkaherbs.com.
Psyllium
For constipation, use psyllium - it swells up to encourage muscle contractions to draw material out. Take it in apple-flavoured Fibre Detox Powder, £9.50 for a three-day course from betteryou.uk.com.

Artichoke
Artichoke cleanses the liver, helping recovery from rich foods and alcohol, while dandelion is a classic diuretic. Find them together in Duchy Herbals Detox Tincture, £10 for 50ml from Boots.
DIM
DIM (diindolylmethane) is an extract of broccoli that removes the excess oestrogen that causes mood swings and acne. Try Springfield DIM Bio Response, £34.95 for 100mg from nutricentre.com.
