A winning campaign: our streets are greener than we thought!

Tree lined street

With entries from as far apart as Dorset and the Shetland Islands, our Greener Streets competition, in association with B&Q, brought in sackloads of stories of how you've transformed where you live.

Our panel of judges, Editor Julia Goodwin, Interiors and Gardens Editor Denise Brock, eco writer Chris Haslam, TV builder Tommy Walsh, eco designer Oliver Heath, and Steve Guy from B&Q, judged three categories - Greenest Home and Garden, Best Innovative Community Scheme and Neighbours Working Together - to distribute £10,000 of prize vouchers. The entries were so impressive, they gave three Special Awards as well as the stated prizes.

Editor Julia Goodwin says: ‘We've been amazed and delighted by the way House Beautiful readers have transformed their homes, gardens and neighbourhoods. It's been an honour to judge this competition.' Steve Guy, Category Trading Manager for B&Q, says: ‘The entries were of outstanding quality, and all our winners deserve recognition for the time and energy they put into their projects.'
