What is the GHI accreditation scheme?

Good Housekeeping online 14.09.2006

GHI accreditation logoThe GHI accreditation scheme allows manufacturers and retailers to apply for access to the GHI Approved logo for their products. To be awarded the logo, a product has to pass a series of Consumer Quality Assessment tests devised by the Good Housekeeping Institute. These tests, in keeping with all those carried out by the GHI, are designed with the needs of potential consumers in mind - and are carried out by our team of expert researchers. The GHI does not routinely carry out specific safety or durability tests.

When a product achieves or surpasses a minimum score in these tests, the GHI Approved logo is awarded for a 12-month period. If a product fails any of the tests, recommendations will be given as to which specific areas need to be improved. Companies can choose either a Summary Report outlining the main test results and recommendations or a Full Report detailing the methodology and giving all the test results in full, with more detailed recommendations. Unlike the comparative testing results on which we base our advice in the magazine and on the website, these one-off reports are confidential to the client company.

Once access to the GHI Approved logo is awarded, it can be used on television, in newspapers and magazines, on posters, point of sale material, on packaging, and in exhibitions, brochures, PR material and internal communications.
