Make your own seed pots
Making your own seed pots is so simple. Here’s how...
Newspaper is biodegradable, so there's no need to transplant the plant when it's time to plant it out. The paper rots away, so the root need not be disturbed - it just grows through the pot.
1 Take a double spread of newspaper then cut or tear it in half down the middle to leave you with a whole single page.
2 Fold the page in half lengthways. Then fold again lengthways, making a crisp edge that will be the top of your pot.
3 Take a straight-sided glass or empty glass jar and, with the base facing up and the paper extending halfway above, wrap the paper tightly around.
4 Fold down the overlapping half of the paper to form the pot base, then turn the glass right way up and press down to make the base firm. Remove the glass.
5 Fill the pot with compost, plant and water your seeds and place the pot in the soil.
