Fundamental and secondary aromas:

Aries

impatient, inquisitive, responds to intense flavours, yet capable of noting great subtlety

hot such as chillies or horseradish, radish, sharp, such as onions, astringent, pungent, strong odours

Rosemary,  black pepper, ginger

 

Taurus

 

Flavourful, sensuous, luxury loving

 

sweet to very sweet, Almonds (esp. sugar-coated!), chocolate, subtle aromatic spices, warm and rich food, roast, potatoes and gravies

 

Rose: sorrel, geranium, vanilla, sandalwood, ylang ylang

 

Gemini

 

inquisitive, restless

 

sharp and snappy, mildly astringent, cold (icy drinks from iced tea to margaritas), mildly astringent, finger foods and portable foods such as sushi

 

Basil: lavender, thyme, peppermint

 

Cancer

 

Proustian, reflective, intuitive

 

Watery: melons, watercress, seaweed, mushrooms, Milky such as Ice cream, rice pudding, odourless, insipid

 

Bergamot, blue camomile, citrusy ones such as lemon & orange

 

Leo

 

responds to glamour, style and luxury

 

pungent rich & strong but balanced, rich curry with saffron rice; sweet, cinnamon buns 

 

Jasmine: sage, saffron, benzoin, myrrh, frankincense

 

Virgo

 

tastefulness & quality important, dislike excess

 

adores simple foods, salads, uncomplicated meat dishes (though many are vegetarian) cold, mildly astringent

 

Lavender: parsley, caraway, fennel, peppermint

 

Libra

 

balance vital, sensual, explore slowly and thoughtfully

 

subtle, classical dishes from any cuisine, dislikes overly strong flavours, warm, sweet, gently perfumed food

 

Geranium or palmarosa: marjoram, angelica, cardamom, cinnamon, almond

 

Scorpio

 

intensively inquisitive yet dislike being seen as short of facts, creatures of habit, so hesitant about the unfamiliar

 

intense, bitter or extreme flavours, loves things others won't eat or foods with peculiar fragrances

 

Patchouli: anise, rosemary, pine, ginger, black pepper, turmeric

 

Sagittarius

 

restless, respond enthusiastically to the unfamiliar

 

fragrant, exotic foreign foods, mixtures of flavours (biryani), also sugar, loves sweet things especially with spices, dried fruit and nuts

 

Black pepper: dandelion, oregano, sage, rosewood, ginger, pine

 

Capricorn

 

cannily observant, excellent sensual memory, status and label conscious 

 

cold, sour, astringent, bitter; dusky flavours (foods that grow underground, potatoes, parsnips), dried meats; solid, stodgy foods, meatloaf with potatoes

 

Vetivert: birch, eucalyptus, burdock, cedarwood, rue

 

Aquarius

 

inquisitive but unadventuresome, will explore until the find something they like, then stick with it

 

uncommon combinations or foods unusual for the region they're in, flavours are brackish, astringent

 

Neroli: dill, lemongrass, vetivert, cypress

 

Pisces

 

extremely perceptive, very sensitive - if not adverse to - strong flavours

 

alcohol in general, fish (!),  subtlety, watery foods, fruit and veg, imaginative presentation as important as flavour

 

Melissa: rosemary, kelp, coriander, cress, geranium, birch, celery
