The Food for Thought Award

Inspired by her father, who ran the charity Sight Savers, Claire Hicks has built the international IMPACT programme, which is a global initiative to prevent major causes of disability internationally.  Since 1985, IMPACT has provided 630,000 operations to restore sight, mobility and hearing in 33 countries.

IMPACT is now also piloting a scheme in the UK to tackle healthy eating and runs cooking clubs and gardening schemes to provide fresh fruit, vegetables and education about healthy eating.
