And the winning grandparent memoir is...
When Good Housekeeping asked you to write about the grandparent experience, the response was amazing
In the November 2008 issue of Good Housekeeping, we asked you to write an autobiographical piece about your memories of your own grandparents or being a grandparent yourself.
We were swamped with hundreds of entries and after much deliberation, our prestigious judges (who included novelist Joanna Trollope and president of PiggyBankKids Sarah Brown) chose a winner: Glynis Burrough, who lives in Monbalen, France. Glynis wrote about her wild granny, Jane - a prize-winning Charleston dancer who smoked from the age of 14 to 96! The story will be published in a collection of anecdotal essays called 'Grandparents' (published by Ebury) on 1 October, with all proceeds going to PiggyBankKids.
Our highly commended prize went to Paola Ruocco, from Royston, Herts, and our runners-up were: Deborah Rickard, from Bristol, Sue Morton, from Marlow, Bucks, Helena Goss, from County Antrim, Northern Ireland and Emma James, from Worcester. All will receive a selection of the latest Ebury titles. Congratulations to our winners and a big thank you to everyone who entered.
