How to look after a poinsettia
Try these tricks to treating your houseplant correctly
Place your plant in a well-lit location with a temperature of no less than 13°C.
To ensure it flowers again next Christmas, cut the stems back to 10cm in spring. Keep the compost almost dry and place it in a cool place.
In early May, repot, then water. Thin the new shoots to five stems.
From September, cover with a black plastic bag from early evening until the next morning.
Continue this for eight weeks, then treat as normal and your plant will be red again in time for Christmas.
