Make it with mosaic: flowerpot

mosaic flower pot to make

Mosaics don't have to be multicoloured - create an interesting pattern using one colour or add small amounts of contrasting colour. We used two old plates to decorate a plant pot. Cover the outside of the pot with a thin layer of PVA glue to seal it and leave to dry.

To smash the china, find an old, hard surface to work on, or do it outside - you may damage a table top. Wrap the china in a thick terry towel and smash with a hammer until you have lots of small pieces.

Use PVA glue to attach the pieces, using patterned ones to create a border around the top first, then cover with the plain pieces, inserting a few patterned ones at random. When dry, cover with grout. Wipe away surplus grout with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Finish by polishing with a dry cloth.

Tip: Look in charity shops or jumble sales for old china to use in mosaic projects.
