Hi,

I've just been cold called by a company who claim that if you are on the TPS database, you have to renew your details every 24 months 'because this is the average lifespan of a telephone number'! I have never heard of this and wonder whether any forum members or staff of AAY ever have?

The company gave its name as 'Living Space' and by dialling 1471, I was able to get a phone number as 08452-269900.  Unfortunately the assistant phoning disconnected me when I asked to take down his name and details (no surprise there, then).

I'm not giving them the satisfaction of me ringing them back, but what he told me sounds a lot of nonsense.  Does anyone know any more?

I am not as green as I am cabbage looking .......

sounds like a bit of a scam to me. i am in the service and have been for several years without renewal. Report him to the service

Hi there, i would ring or email the TPS and ask them about it.

I used to get cold calls from a certain company and mentioned it to the TPS, who then sent out forms to me to fill in if it happened again (it hasn't) as last time they rang i asked where they got my details from as i was registered witht he TPS, and they instantly put the phone down!

Hope you get it sorted.

xx

Thanks for your replies girls.  It just didn't sound right to me and I will pass the details on to the TPS.  It's amazing what inventive excuses some companies use when caught out in the wrong.

The Call Prevention Registry has a 95 per cent success rate for blocking unwanted telemarketing calls and it’s been particularly effective with those from India and Sri Lanka. It costs £35.75 to register three telephone numbers, including mobile phone numbers. Visit www.callpreventionregistry.co.uk. This works for me.

Hope this helps. keep reading Homes pages of Prima-I write them!!
