The most common ones are health-related [I know mine are], which is why I'm posting here. We've just put live a gallery of the most common resolutions, eg lose weight, get fitter, stop smoking, with lots of helpful links along the way. Have a look at 'Top New Year's resolutions' here.

Let us know what yours are - and how you get on...

Maybe I will nearer the time, but as far as I'm concerned it's Still the Season to be Jolly not the one for Fingers to be Wagging at Us Already.  Please chill out Adrienne and let us get on with it!

I'm not wagging my finger at you! I'm very chilled and fully festive. But I'm also aware that today is December 29 and 2009 is not far away, so the thought of resolutions has crossed my mind... But who said New Year resolutions were compulsory? Just making sure that timely stuff is ready and waiting on the site when it's 'back to life, back to reality'... And now, if you'll excuse me, my one working day between Christmas and New Year is over, so it's back to enjoying myself. Cheers!

Okay, I'll let you off the hook Adrienne, if you promise me there'll be no mention of the dreaded D...word.  We know they never work and women were not meant to punish themselves by starting one in January, that is setting yourself up for failure, imo.  By all means suggest some calorie swaps, perhaps some nutritious soups to keep us warm and toasty.

I'm glad to hear you are heading back to the chill zone, the way magazines work it'll be Valentines Day and Easter Bunnies before we can blink. Wink

[Started on resolutions early - swimming yesterday,  Gym today - but only as result of daughter nagging me to join her.  She goes back to uni next week and not only will I not have her here to nag me , but the temptation to comfort eat as I will me her is going to be enormousQUOTE]Okay, I'll let you off the hook Adrienne, if you promise me there'll be no mention of the dreaded D...word.  We know they never work and women were not meant to punish themselves by starting one in January, that is setting yourself up for failure, imo.  By all means suggest some calorie swaps, perhaps some nutritious soups to keep us warm and toasty.I'm glad to hear you are heading back to the chill zone, the way magazines work it'll be Valentines Day and Easter Bunnies before we can blink.                  ___

I'm glad to hear that you're exercising rather than starving, Debbie M, as I'm sure that's the way to success.  Let's face it, most of us might have gained a pound or two over Christmas but it's not as if we have to do anything drastic.  Much better, I think, to get into good habits we can carry on with.

I just want to get over this dreadful flu (the real thing - confirmed by the doc - yes, I am feeling very sorry for myself!) before I start punishing myself with resolutions.  The only one I can think of at the moment is try to get another job instead of the horrible one I am in at the moment.

Happy New Year folks.

Hope you feel better soon.  I started a new job at end of November after working in the same place since I left school 25 years ago. It was the scariest thing I have ever done but the stimulation of learning a new job and realising I have a smile on my face when I go to work is worth it. I still have a lot to learn but my colleague s and manager are so supportive so I say go for it and I hope you find a job you like soon
