Hi, Jermaine, and welcome to the forums!

In the first place, the first two weeks of a diet or regime always see dramatic changes, as you lose water.

If you have started doing a lot of exercisiing you will put on muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat. Your bone mass will also grow a little to support the muscle growth. And no, you won't look like Arnie - women don't!

Don't get hung up on the weighing scales.  As you tone up, your waist will go down. Your clothes will feel looser in the parts that were once fat. Your thighs will slim down. But your weight may well go up.

You will also look better and feel better. You'll have more stamina, and you will have much bigger lung capacity. What more can anyone ask?

Don't weigh every week; or if you must (it's compulsive, I know!) make a diary of the readings, and once a month do an average.

Better yet, get a set of scales which also measure your body fat, muscle, bone mass and water content (read the instructions!) These will tell you what's going on - far better than just the old kilos or pounds moving about.

I have a set of these, and once a month or so Mr BB and I do the scan, and I record the measurements. It's a way of seeing what you are doing right.

Keep up the good work - it sounds like you are making real progress!  BB

Hi Jermaine, also remember that the tension within the scales themselves changes depending on the weather conditions.  Bluntly, the colder it is the tighter the spring the less you weigh.

A pound of fat is 3,750 calories so to put on a pound you would need to have eaten this in extra calories to the number you burn, as that is very unlikely the increase is more likely to a slight change in muscle ratio to fat, temperature, and a change of water level in your body.  Even whether you have been to the toilet can change a reading.  I always adopt the higher reading and disregard any sudden losses until they show for 3 weeks in a row.  Remember as well that your menstrual cycle will play its part in your weight reading, you will be heaviest the week before a period.

Hope this helps.

Clarissa
