I had decided to revamp my wardrobe with some homemade bags and came across this site:

It seems to have some lovely stuff on it and not ridiculous prices. Have yet to order anything but excited about doing so!

It's a fab website and Lisa who owns it, is really helpful.  She usually despatches the orders really quickly and is on hand to offer any advice.  So  far, I have made the basket bag (free instructions) and can;t wait to start on another one. They are surprisingly quick to make.

Hi ChunkyMonkey! I also make bags and have oredered magnetic snap fasteners and other bits and pieces from U-handbag, They are a great company and nice to deal with. Have you made many bags? there are great books on bag making on amazon. I'm addicted to now and go to bed thinking up new designs and can't sleep! Bags are taking over my life - hence my name!

Love 'The Bag Lady' x

Yes, I've spent a lot of time looking at this site, and have learned how to solve one or two problems from the tutorials. Some great ideas, and the supply side is efficient, too.

I love hand made bags and would like to make my first one soon.  Can anyone recommend an easy beginner's pattern.  I rather fancy a grab type bag.  Any suggestions on freebie patterns for me to look at on the internet for ideas?

This is my first post!

What a great site!!  I have found that clothes from the chariety shops are great for bag making.  Im currently looking for  tweed and tartan, I usually buy skirts in a size 18/20 as this gives me more choice of where to cut first!!

The best of luck Mary, bagmaking is very addictive.

I made a bag for a friend from an embroidered jacket that no longer fitted her. I used my imagination and incorporated the button fastenings.

She was really pleased and this has given me the inspiration to make some more

Wow, this site seems fantastic, I've just registered, and can't wait to browse the site.

Trouble is, I'm too busy making stuff to  spend much time on the PC!
