Was not sure this question was meant for me or not!

If you have a 3 seater settee, with 4 or 6 cushions, a valance and piping, I would normally allow between 13 and 15 metres of fabric, depending on whether it is plain or patterned.

I would charge anything from £ 285- £350 for make up, depending on extras, eg. armcaps, or amount of Piping and how you would want it fastened.

I hope this of help to you, if I lived nearer I would have love to have done it for you ....at friends rates of course! lol

I hope you have some success, do you have a local fabric store or a furnishing store? as they may be able to point you in the direction af a Soft Furnisher.

Take Care xx

           Hugs to all Cathy xx

Thanks Cathy. Armed with that information I shall go on a search. There is a place that sells good curtain fabric in Dumfries - I'll see if they know of anybody. Good tip.

It was a custom made sofa originally, but 10 years of kids, dogs, felt tip pens, not to mention the bird sh*t from when a blackbird got trapped in the room, haven't done much for its looks!

Cathy I have just had  a quote to have loose covers made for my suite. A 3 seater sofa, a 2 seater sofa and a chair and they quoted £700-£780 for make up.  I think you are selling yourself short or am I being ripped off!?

Yes, Keeper, though I live the other side of Dumfries. My sil's a mad mountain biker, so he goes there a lot, and we take the kids to Mabie farm in the summer. Minimu, that's nearly the price of a good new sofa by M&S.I doubt if mine cost that much to start with.
