i dont scare easily but.....

on wednesday as i was in town,i needed to get some cash out.the cash machine is right next door to the PO where i work. i checked around and there was no one around,popped my card in and tapped in how much i wanted and suddenly there were about 4 teenage girls behind me and to the point of josseling me. i thought OMG im going to be mugged.thats how frightened i was.i just grabbed my card and cash and ran into the PO. ive never been so glad to go into work as i was that day. Stu my manager just let me straight in behind the counter and just a few words from him calmed me down.he really is a lovely man. needless to say i came straight home then,had a little grizzle but im fine now. please everyone be very very careful especially as its this yime of year! xxxx

Sorry to hear about your scare JW, 0/H always gets me money, I don!t like going to these cash machines either, you were better taking your card out and leaving, maybe nothing would have happened but I think I would of done the same in the circumstances.

Julie what an awful experience for you my love. I really think people should be more understanding at these cash points and give people a bit more room if they only have good intentions. Its like I always told my boys, if they are walking behind a woman/girl on a quiet street to cross the road so the girl wont feel intimitated. Something very similar happened to me in the summer. Himself had ordered some money from the bank, not a huge amount but enough that he had to order it. I went into the bank to pick it up, its one of those new open planned banks, and the stupid cashier (a man) started counting it in front of me and everyone else in the bank!! I couldn't believe he was doing it and asked if there was somewhere more private we could go. He seemed surprised that I'd asked. I said look I'm a middle aged woman on her own, I don't know who's watching you count out all that money do I? I could get mugged on the way back to the car park! What a fright JW. I am always so careful around cash machines anyway. I have been in the Post Office and seen a cashier count out an old ladies pension, quite a bit too, and i thought to myself then, i could be anyone stood there and this old dear would never stand a chance. It is quite scarey really isn't it? We do have to be careful especially at this time of year. xx Love Pondlife xx

I never use the "hole in the wall" but go into the bank. If there is no cash machine inside then I go to the counter. The cashiers may not like it but tough, my safety is more important.

You poor thing, even if these girls were innocent they should have been more thoughtful. OH and I always get the money out together and we are very fussy about which cash point we use. I always check for a false front as well in case my card gets cloned. If they were up to no good you will probably see them again hanging around in which case you will be able to tell the police. What a horrible experience for you JW, lucky you had your wits about you and were able to make a run for it. I think it's a lesson for us all to be on our guard especially this time of year, and make sure our purses are tucked inside closed bags at all times.  |

Sorry this happened to you JW Its so sad this happens, I alwasy make sure Dad gets his cash back in Morrisons. We dont have any banks near here so have to use the hole in the wall. Pat you were right to ask to go somewhere more private
