.......... I might understand!!!

My son-in-law had an interview for a job at 10 this morning,he arrived at the firm and was going into the carpark and was stopped by the security man and told he couldn't park in the carpark as it was for staff only, where can I park then son-in-law asked he was told to leave the car in a particular place as he was not going to be that long.He then went to the office for the interview, the man came in and said "what can I do for you"? I am here for the 10 o'clock interview,oh, for what job?,son-in -law told him, that job was filled over a week ago he was told!!!he made his way, feeling very angry, back to his car,and it had been clamped. The clamper was waiting for him, and demanded £300,but the security man said I could park here he said,It's got nothing to do with him was the reply, now I wouldn't have done this, but son-in-law rang round his family to borrow the money, his brother turned up with the £300 a loan, but needs it back in 2 weeks, well, as he has not got a job,I don't know how he is going to pay it back that quickly. I myself feel very suspicious and think the security chap and clamper are working hand in glove.

Grotbags, Find out who owns the land. You may find you can appeal to the owner's better nature. The person who brought your son-law in may intevene. Your son-in-law is on weak ground. Was there a notice explaining where he could and could not park.? Who employs the security guard? If the security guard is employed by the clamping firm and he has misrepresented the situation this would overrride any notice. The problem is that this is all word of moth and proof is difficult to show. Also, it was on private land. Try to find out the answers and ask the citizens advice bureau for help because I think your son-in law may be able to put moral pressure on the security firm and onwers of the land if not legal pressure.

What a rotten day he has had, GBs. It certainly sounds as though the Security Guard and the clampers are hand in glove, and worth making a complaint both to the police and to the company where he went for the interview. For one thing, he may bnot be the only one who has suffered in this way, through the same means.

And a little TLC is called for, I think! Not to mention a whip round. He was probably nervous and not thinking or keeping his wits about him - a fact the security guard may have played on.

Let that be a lesson to one and all! BB

Hi Grotbags

advice is same as the others police investigation but also the local council citizens advice line might be able to help. They would certainly be able to advise on his rights in this.

Who owns the property/ Is it a landlord? Or is it privately owned?

how awful for S I L, a real bad day. hope he gerts a job soon and can put this behind him. it does sound very dodgy.
